The Myers Briggs Typology Indicator® (MBTI)
The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI)is a self-report questionnaire designed to make the theory of psychological types described by C. G. Jung understandable and useful in people's lives. The essence of the theory is that much seemingly random variation in the behavior is actually quite orderly and consistent, being due to basic difference in the way individuals prefer to use their perception and judgment. In almost any organization, these differences can be the source of much misunderstanding and miscommunication.
Taking the MBTI inventory and receiving feedback will help you identify your specific personality type and preferences. The information enhances understanding of yourself, your motivations, your natural strengths, and your potential areas for growth. When aggregated, teams and organizations can use this information to better understand group dynamics including assisting team members in appreciating others' differences and navigating organizational challenges. Understanding MBTI type supports the success of individuals, teams and organizations and encourages cooperation and collaboration with others.
After more than 50 years of research and development, the current MBTI is the most widely used personality assessment tool. Because it explains basic patterns in human functioning, the MBTI is used for a wide variety of purposes including the following:
- Professional Development
- Leadership Development
- Team Development
- Organizational Development
- Management Training
- Career Development and Exploration
- Relationship Management
- Conflict Resolution
- Team Building
- Problem Solving and Troubleshooting
- Education and Curriculum Development
- Academic Counseling
- Diversity and Multicultural Training
More than two million Indicators are administered annually in the United States. The MBTI is also used internationally and has been translated into more than 30 languages.
Flyte's consultants, qualified in the administration and interpretation of the MBTI, incorporate this powerful tool in each Integrated Leadership Development process to assist individuals, teams and organizations in establishing useful dialogue and collaborative understanding of strengths and weaknesses within the organization.
Individual and team reports are available dependant upon the development process engaged. Though the MBTI provides invaluable insights for individual, team and organizational development, it does not determine possibility for success. That can only be determined by each individual's, team's or organization's resolve to apply the given feedback in gainful ways.
